INDIAN FREEDOM STRUGGLE FROM BRITISHERS 

India gain independence in 1947

After the failure of revolt of 1857, there was a great struggle against Britishers. Britishers took control over the Indians in revolt of 1857.They still do rule on India,the first spinning and weaving mill in the Bombay and the universities in Bombay, Madras and Calcutta. In 1870 s there was a beginning of elected representatives in municipalities. there was a Madras harbour completed in 1881. There was  first screening of a film at Watson s Hotel  , at Bombay. 1896 and plague start spreading in cities. In 1911 there was transfer of capital from Calcutta to Delhi.

MAHATMA GANDHI

Mahatma Gandhi  full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.He did a satyagrah in South Africa against racial discrimonation for black person by white person.In January 1915, he came to India their homeland after two decades of residence from abroad.The Chandran Devansan has remarked ,South Africa was "the making of Mahatma".His first major public appearence was at opening of the Beranas Hindu university in February in 1916.

NON COOPERATION AND CALLED OFF


It was led by Gandhi after the jalliwala bagh massacre.It aimed to resist britishers rule in India through non violent means satyagrah . The reasom of this movement was Khilafat agitation . Jalliawala bagh masscare, rowlactt act.In this act swadeshi things were used and bot foreign ,and non coperation with british.
Gandhi  called of this movement because after the  chauri chaura incident and it turn into vio v   lent at some places so he take it back .v
But after sometime  there was a removal of calipha in Turkey and due to this non cooperation and Khilfat movt was started.

Gandhi stayed out of active politics and as such, the lime light for most of 1920.The british did not respond.On 31 dec 1929,the flag was celebrated as India s independence day by Indian national congress meeting in Lahore. This was highlighted by the famous salt march to Dandi from march to 6 april where he marched 388 km (241 mi) from Ahmedabad to Dandi , Gujarat to make salt himself.

QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT

Gandhi intially favoured offering non violent moral support to the british effort when world war 2 broke out in 1939 but the congressioal leaders were ofended by the unilateral in clusion of India in the war without consultation of the people s representatives . In 1942 althrough still comitted in his efforts to ;launch a non violent movement.Gandhi the entire congress working comitte were
arrested in Bombay by the British on 9  August 1942. Gandhi held for 2 years in the Aga khan palace in Pune. It was here that Gandhi suffered two terrible blows i  his personal life 


At last we get freedom from British in AUGUST 15 by the our nationalist leaders.
