MAURYA EMPIRE

 MAURYA EMPIRE- A STRONG EMPIRE IN INDIA

Maurya empire was a strong empire in the India.It was establish by Chandragupta Maurya under the guidence of Chankya . Chankya was a guru at Taxila. 

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Before Chandragupta maurya it was ruled by Mahapadmananda , the ruler of Nanda dynasty. He was a cruel ruler of magdha . The people of magdha were afraid and irritated by mahapadmananda. Once he disrespect chankya , then he take oath to destroy its dynasty. So chankya prepared Chandragupta maurya and it attack three times but failed at last he destroy its dynasty and establish Maurya empire.

CHANKYA

He was a guru of Chandragupta maurya and guru at Taxila. He was a creator of arthshastra, it was a record of adminstration of maurya empire.

MAURYA EMPIRE 

It was establish by chandragupta maurya in 321 BCE, after defeating mahapadmanand of nanda dynasty.He was best ruler of his empire. He unite the India under the guidence of chankya .He was successed by his son Bindusar . He was also a good ruler of its dynasty During his rule he defeated 16 states. He was very kind ruler and people were happy under his rule.

SAMRAT ASHOKA 

He was a best ruler of his dynasty after chandragupta maurya. During his rule ,it was a golden rule of India. He did many wars and won but when he done a kalinga war , it was a turning point of his life and he become the Bhuddisht and doesnt do wars and dont take sword. He worked for the welfare for the people and become the Devampiya dassi means beloved to gods. He spread bhuddism all over the world some famous pillar are sanchi stupta and sarnath pillar and many more . He was known as Ashoka the great all over the world.He spread bhuddisht thoughts by the language of prakrit written on his pillars .He set up special officers known as dhamma mahamatta to spread message of dhamma.

AMINSTRATION

It has five capitals Patliputra, Taxila, Tosali, Ujjayini, Suvarnagiri.

It has long distance routes.

It has strong communication with both land and riverine.

It army  was divided in committees and subcommittes which has one looked after navy second manage trade and transport , third looked for foot soilders and fourth looked for horses and fifth for chariots and sixth for the elephants. 

They  have strict punishments for guilty.

They have respect for all religions. 

They have good tax collection system. 

DECLINE OF MAURYA EMPIRE 

After the death of Ashoka,  the successor of Ashoka were very weak they couldnot manage the large empire. The last mauryan king Brihadratha killed by his own military general Pushyamitra Shunga in 185 BCE , and established the shunga dynasty.
