Before going in a mission general asked for there victory signal captain Vikram said "yeh dil maang more" and they win that battle and said that signal, and in an interview he described about their mission and how their team worked in a mission. He became captain after their mission and his name go for Mahavir chakra. His next mission code name was "Shershah"and in that mission they got victory but lost their life and he was awarded as Paramvir chakra (the highest award in the military) and it was awarded at 52 independence 1999, his father G. L batra received that honour from president late K.R Narayanan.
BACKGROUND HISTORY ,EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
He was born on 9 September 1974 in palampur, H.P .He is the third son of G.L Batra , a school principal and Kamal Kanta Batra , a school teacher. He was a elder in twin sons and bborn 14 minutes before his brother Vishal. Their nickname was Luv and Kush after the name of bhagwan Ram sons, their mother was great devotee of bhagwan Ram.He studied in D.A.V School and senior secondary education in central school in Palampur. He was brilliant in studies. After completing 12 th he joined Air wing NCC while he was in first year. After acheiveing good position in career.In 1996, he passed the CDS examination and subsequently received a call for an interview at the Services Selection Board (SSB) at Allahabad and was selected. He was among the top 35 candidates in the Order of Merit. After completing a year (session 1995—96) towards the degree of MA in English, he left the University to join the Indian Military Academy.

Vikram had found his purpose in life. He had found the way to a righteous path that would lead him to his goal — to a service that was extraordinarily high and supreme.
MILITARY CAREER and Kargil war
He joined army in Dehradun in June 1996. He was very good in military.He killed many enemies in military career.
In January 1999, Batra was sent on a Commando Course at Belgaum, Karnataka where he excelled. The course lasted for two months and at the end of it, he was awarded the highest grading — the Instructor's Grade.
KARGIL WAR AND OTHER OPERATIONS
Batra's battalion, the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (13 JAK Rif), reached Dras on 6 June, was placed under the command of 56 Mountain Brigade, and was given orders to act as reserves to the 2nd battalion of the Rajputana Rifles (2 Raj Rif) during their attack on Tololing mountain. The 18th battalion of The Grenadiers (18 Grenadiers) first attacked Tololing on 22 May, but were unable to capture the peak. 18 Grenadiers made four attempts to capture Tololing, but could only succeed in securing the lower slopes, while suffering heavy casualties. Eventually, 2 Raj Rif was assigned the mission of capturing Tololing and they did so on 13 June 1999.
After the capture of Tololing, 13 JAK Rif marched from Dras to Tololing, reaching their destination in 12 hours. Upon reaching, Alpha company of 13 JAK Rif took over Tololing and a portion of the Hump Complex from 18 Grenadiers

When this mission was introduced their victory signal is '' yeh dil maange more'' and another team also a another signal and after their victory they became a captain in the Army and their next mission was introduced which was capture of 4875. In this mission he lost their life but make sure their victory in that battle and he awarded with Paramvir chakra on 52 independence anniversary of India.
