The Jaisalmer is a town in the heart in the heart of Thar desert.There population is , including residents in the fort is about 78000.It is in the Rajasthan and 575 kilometre from Jaipur. It is famous for its yellowish sandstone and is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer fort.The fort contains a royal palace and several ornate Jain temples.

The city Jaisalmer named after Rawal Jaisal ,a Bhati ruler, who founded this city in 1156 AD. It means the hill fort of Jaisal. Sometimes it is called "the golden city of Rajasthan" because of yellow sandstone used through out the architecture of both the fort and town below, imbues both with a certain golden yellow light.
