THE BATTLE OF PANIPAT (1) BETWEEN BABUR AND LODI EMPIRE
The first battle of Panipat take place between Babur and Lodi empire on 21April 1526 in the north India. It marks the beginning of Mughal empire. This was one of the earliest battle involving gunpowderfirearms
and field artillery.
Details of this battle
In 1526 , the Mughal forces under Babur ,the Timurid ruler of Kabulistan, defeated the large army of Ibrahim Lodi , sultan of Delhi. This battle take place near small village Panipat, in present day state of Haryana, an area that has been the site of a number of decisive battles for the control of Northern India since 20th century.
It is estimated that Babur had 15000 men and had between 20 to 24 pieces of field artillery. Babur estimated Lodi had around 100000 men , through that number included camp followers, while the fighting force was around 30000-40000 men in total , along with at last 1000 war elephants.
